Clarksville Tennessee may not be the first place that comes to mind when thinking of the Volunteer State. However, it's population ranks fifth in the state and is the fifth fastest growing town in the enitre U.S., which makes it a hotbed for screen printing. Any boomtown is known for one thing or another, but they're all known for advertising. Screen printed t-shirts are just that, walking billboards!
The city boasts two very impotant things, a University and a major military base. Both of which guarantee commerce. College students need to work and play, not to mention that they also live in tees. Military families on the other hand bring stability and long term growth to the area.
First and foremost, Fort Campbell Army base is located right next to the city. Again, your first thought may not be t-shirts, but military tees used skulls and flames long before the trend went pop culture.
The 101st Airborne is one of the most famous divisions of the military. T-shirts in Clarksville often show off the 101st "Screaming Eagle". I mean, if you're a tee designer and the concept includes a screaming eagle, you're off to a hell of a start!
The second major factor that makes t-shirt printing in Clarksville awesome is it's major college, Austin Peay State University. Austin Peay has over 10,000 students, so you can imagine all of the screen printing that needs to be done semester after semester for the clubs on campus. The school mascot is known as the Governors, named after Austin Peay, the former Governor of Tennessee. The schools logo is is a simple, sleek looking "AP". In a world full of paws and catheads, The "AP" is unique and makes for great printed apparel.
Screen printing in Clarksville also has the benefits of what a growing city brings socially. Church tees, sports tees and small business printed apparel are as diverse here as anywhere else in the state. The city has branded itself, "Tennessee's Top Spot" and at the rate it's growing, it will be true on many levels. Before long, Clarksville may indeed be the top spot for t-shirt printing in the south.
